3 of Singapore's Tastiest Dishes

Introduction

Singapore is a melting pot of cultures that includes: Chinese, Indian, European, Asian, and American. With its diverse set of cultures, it also has a lot of interesting and delicious food. From the most modern Western fast food to the most traditional Chinese cuisines, Singapore has a lot of interesting dishes to try. If you're travelling to Singapore, these are three dishes you must try.

Chicken Rice

If you are going to Singapore for the first time, you can not- and I mean you can not - miss this dish. Chicken Rice is one of the most notable dishes in Singapore. Its rice isn't like any ordinary rice because it is cooked with chicken and a myriad of spices. Together with the rice you also have steamed/ roasted chicken (depending on your choice); chilli sauce and soy sauce, chilli for the spicy lovers, and soy sauce for the savoury; and a cup of hot chicken soup for you to wash it down with. The fragrance of the rice combined with the tenderness and taste of the chicken mixed with the additional flavour of the sauce makes it so delicious and unique.

Laksa

If you want some hot and spicy action while travelling to Singapore, laksa is one of the best choices. It is a noodle in coconut curry and is a staple Singaporean dish. It is a spicy yet flavourful dish; the thick and spicy curry broth paired with the noodles and the meat is a perfect combination on a cold day. The soupy texture and the noodles work really well. It is similar to Myanmar's coconut noodles (it is spicier). Laksa is a delightful dish to try if you are feeling adventurous.

Chilli Crab

You can't go to Singapore and miss out on one of its most iconic dishes, chilli crab. Chilli crab is a combination which doesn't seem to go well, but it is actually really delicious! The sweetness of crab meat paired with the ketchup-y yet spicy chilli sauce works really well. It is extremely succulent, rich in flavour and texture, and is an amazing experience.  Keep in mind, though, that your hands will get messy, but that's totally worth it.
